Has the missing maxim been found? “The police are not looking there”

September 27, 2017, 10:34 am

Maxim Markhaliuk, according to residents of the village of Novy Dvor, has often said over the past three years that he wants to leave home.

Lost in the forest Maxim Markhaluk thought about running away from home, and for a long time. This is told by the inhabitants of the village of Novy Dvor, in the surrounding forests of which they have been looking for a 10-year-old boy for the second week already. Many are sure: the child was not lost, but consciously left home.

Why go to the forest at night looking?

“I saw Maxim in the village on Saturday. At five o’clock in the evening. Before that, I was in the forest. I went out, and then Maxim was going. and I'm not afraid"- says Valentina Alexandrovna, a resident of Novy Dvor, Maxim was friends with her son and often came to visit them.

According to the interlocutor of Sputnik, her friend said that on the same day, but after 19:00, she saw Maxim riding in the center of the village. And then - as if he fell through the ground, everyone said that he had gone into the forest. But the woman is sure that going to the forest so late is not like Maxim. After all, at eight o'clock in the evening at this time of the year it is already getting dark, and the boy would not want to go into the darkness.

A resident of the village of Novy Dvor Valentina Alexandrovna, the missing Maxim was friends with her son

“He was so a little cowardly. He was even afraid of my puppy. When he came to us, he usually stands near the gate and calls: “Ilyusha!” or “Aunt Valya!” And I’ll go out and take him to the house. it is unlikely for him to go at night,- adds Valentina Alexandrovna.

Many in the village agree that if the child had been in the forest that evening, he would have been found. After all, the search began immediately and continued even at night. And a child wandering through the night forest could not have gone far.

Made plans to escape for three years

The villagers assume that the boy could be very frightened of something. And not bison, but, for example, the coming punishment for some kind of offense. "Maybe he was afraid of his parents?" - the neighbors argue and tell one telling example.

Last year, for some reason, Maxim went to the lake alone, without his parents, went swimming and nearly drowned. He was rescued by people nearby. On that day, his parents severely punished him, they say, even beat him.

Rumor has it that then the boy either seriously or out of resentment told his parents: “I won’t live with you and I’ll run away anyway. Don’t buy anything for me, everything is for Sasha (older brother - Sputnik).

In the village, the words of Maxim's own grandmother are also transmitted, who told how her grandson several years ago, when he was 7 or 8 years old, said: "I will run away from home anyway." Grandmother to him: "They will find you." And he: "They won't find me, I'll go to the swamps." And then he periodically said that he had such a plan.

Another resident of Novy Dvor, Tatyana Petrovna, said that the child had recently changed.

“Maxim has been friends with my grandson since the age of five. Always together when he is on vacation. And this year, the grandson said that he would no longer be friends. That Maxim started smoking, he behaved differently. Maybe it’s teenage. that I didn’t tell my parents right away, it was my grandson who asked me not to tell anyone, "- recalls the villager.

At the same time, the woman emphasizes several times that Maxim's family is very positive, prosperous, hardworking parents.

Could leave

The main version, which the residents of Novy Dvor are inclined to believe, is that Maxim left for another area, and did so on the same evening or the next morning.

The child most likely had money. Even local children say that it is very easy to earn them in Pushcha. For example, you can sell berries or mushrooms.

And everyone characterizes Maxim as a very lively and purposeful boy. It is said that he often went to the forest.

Tatiana Petrovna says: “So many times they searched with thermal imagers, walked with dogs, and how many people passed through the forest on the weekends. Ours are constantly walking. If the boy were here, they would have found at least some traces.”

A resident of the village of Novy Dvor, Tatyana Petrovna, says that Maxim's family is very positive, prosperous

Rumors that in different time they saw a child either in the forest or on the road, the neighbors consider it fiction. And they immediately ask: "If they saw a child, why didn't they catch up? They are adults. But it turns out that they saw and were allowed to leave."

Many locals constantly go to the forest on their own to look for Maxim.

“My soul hurts for the boy and for the family. We don’t sleep at night either. Every day, day and night, I go to the forest, I call him. And now I’m going too, maybe something will be found,” adds Valentina Alexandrovna.

Recall that Maxim Markhaliuk disappeared on September 16, was put on the national wanted list. On September 26, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case into the disappearance of the child. Maxim has not been found yet. The main version of the police - the boy got lost in the woods.

For the second month, law enforcement officers and volunteers have been searching for a schoolboy who disappeared in mid-September. Maxim Markhaliuk went to Belovezhskaya Pushcha for mushrooms and did not return home. The internal affairs bodies of Belarus sent information about the missing boy through Interpol, but there is still no information about the child.

AiF recalls cases when missing children were still alive even after a long time.

abduction

The disappearance of 5-year-old Yakov Ziborov became known in March 2016. Unidentified persons took the boy from an apartment in Moscow, where he lived with his grandparents. Russian law enforcers have suggested that the disappearance of the child may be of a criminal nature.

For more than a year, the boy was searched all over the world, including with the help of Interpol. As a result, he was found alive and well in June 2017 in the Mogilev region and handed over to his grandmother.

Representatives of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported that members of a radical religious community were involved in the kidnapping of the boy. At the same time, according to one version, the mother of the child belongs to this community.

In 2010, a resident of the Kiev region, 10 years later, found her daughter, who was kidnapped at a train station in the Ukrainian capital in 2000 at the age of 4 years. The mother saw her daughter in one of the Internet editions of the program dedicated to the search for missing children. At the meeting, the girl could not even recognize her. The woman had to undergo a DNA examination and within two years to prove her relationship with her daughter.

In 2008, in Daugavpils, Latvia, 16 years after the disappearance, a boy was found who was abducted at the age of one and a half months. As it turned out, all this time he lived next door to his real parents. The case of the missing child was solved by accident: the woman with whom he had lived all these years ended up in a pre-trial detention center, the teenager was handed over to social service employees. Starting to collect documents for the boy, officials discovered that he did not have a birth certificate. After lengthy clarifications, the woman admitted that the child was adopted. DNA analysis fully confirmed the relationship of the lost child with the parents who have been looking for him all these years.

Most of the missing people in Belarus stay for ten days. If by this time the person has not been found, he is put on the wanted list. In addition, according to paragraph 2 of Art. 167 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Belarus, a criminal case is initiated on the fact of disappearance. Moreover, even if a person disappeared more than twenty years ago, the criminal case is not closed, but only suspended until the moment when it becomes known where he is.

RUN AWAY FROM HOUSE

In March 2017, three children from Vitebsk went to school for classes, but never returned home. They took their passports and money with them, but left mobile phones and a note saying they were leaving home.

A week later, the missing children were found almost 9,000 km from their home in Khabarovsk, Russia. Schoolchildren were removed from the train, on which they intended to get to Vladivostok.

In 2015, a mother and daughter were found in Russia, who disappeared in 2001, and since 2006 were considered murdered. It turned out that the residents of Grodno decided to break off all relations with their relatives and left for a permanent place of residence in a neighboring country, without informing anyone about it.

In Russia, mother and daughter lived without registration. Identification documents were not reissued.

LOST

In 2007, two girls from the Moscow region, who attended the Young Biologist club, came to the Urals with a group of environmentalists. In the area of the nature reserve Sverdlovsk region girls are lost.

Children in the taiga ate berries, drank water from springs and streams, and slept on cedar branches. Wandering the forest, the girls walked tens of kilometers. The girls were prepared for survival in nature in the classroom. The children were found alive and well by a foot rescue team after more than a week of searching.

Maxim Markhaliuk from the agro-town of Novy Dvor, Svisloch district, disappeared a month ago, on September 16th. On October 10, the boy turned 11 years old. He is still being sought.

“The search will continue until the criminal case is opened. To close a criminal case, certain grounds are needed, which now do not exist,” Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Konstantin Shalkevich told Naviny.by.

According to him, additional surveys are being conducted on the spot, information is being exchanged.

investigative committee filed a criminal case on the fact of the disappearance of Maxim Markhaliuk - in accordance with paragraph 2 of Art. 167 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (10 days after the disappearance).

The boy is on the international wanted list - Interpol is also looking for him. As Konstantin Shalkevich noted, when placing data on the missing person in the Interpol bank, information is communicated to employees who, by the nature of their activities, are engaged in the search for missing people.

“The mechanism of dissemination of information, methods and methods of work of foreign colleagues are the same as ours,” said the head of the information and public relations department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

- You pass Maxim's mother, she's at work, you don't want to say anything and ask. Nothing to say, nothing to ask. If she had any information, then everyone would already know. So what do you say? Once again to excite - it is simply impossible. After all, every time she again experiences tragedy. It can be seen that the person is thinner, emaciated - one cannot look without pain and tears. Remember when there was information about the Polish trail? So she straight up perked up when they said. And now ... Now she has this condition again ...

Aircraft and drones were used in the largest search operation in the history of the country aircrafts, professionals and volunteers participated.

On some days, more than two thousand people were involved in the search for the boy, Sergey Kovgan, commander of the Angel search and rescue team, told Naviny.by.

“Everything possible has been done on the spot. There are places left that no one can technically examine - swamps. We combed everything we could, several times, but there is no information about the whereabouts of the boy,” Kovgan said.

There is an algorithm for the search and rescue operation, the specialists know what and how to do, Sergey Kovgan emphasized: “The search for the boy has not been stopped, it is continued by the Angel squad by informing in all possible ways. So we do everything that depends on us. And law enforcement agencies are engaged in operational-search activities.”

Currently, the Angel squad is looking for more than 54 children, all of them disappeared even before Maxim Markhaliuk.

This year alone, Angel helped find dozens of people and thousands in five years of work. However, this public initiative rests only on the enthusiasm of people "who, out of a spiritual outburst, are ready to spend their time and energy in the name of finding other people."

The search for missing schoolboy Maxim Markhaliuk in Belovezhskaya Pushcha has been going on for more than a month.

Maxim Markhaliuk left home in the village of Novy Dvor (Svisloch district) on the evening of September 16th. Since then, the whereabouts of the boy is not known.

"On the this moment Maxim is being searched for by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs together with dog handlers and a special forces detachment. In spite of everything, we do not lose hope that the boy will be found,” a member of the CenterSpas search and rescue team from Grodno told Sputnik.

Members of the detachment, according to CenterSpas representatives, always hope that the missing will be found sooner or later. Meanwhile, 40 days have passed since the disappearance of Markhaliuk.

The whole country continues to follow the search for Maxim. In the midst of search activities, more than a thousand people from all over the country came to the village of Novy Dvor - volunteers from the Angel, CenterSpas and other search teams wanted to help the police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Ten days after the disappearance of the boy, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case. Law enforcement agencies work out all possible versions the disappearance of Maxim, but so far the situation with the disappearance of the child has not cleared up.

In the Novy Dvor itself, at the mention of the name of Maxim, they only shrug and sigh. On October 10, the boy had a birthday - he turned 11 years old. The villagers hoped that they would still find Maxim by his birthday, but the child is still missing.

- Absolutely no news. Nobody tells us anything. The Investigative Committee works and does not share anything with us, - says Alla Goncharevich, director of the school where Maxim's mother works. “If my parents knew anything, we would know too. And so ... Absolutely nothing. We do not leave hope. In fact, there is no child.

But you never know, there are different fantastic cases. This is not a standard situation. In a simple situation, we had to find him right away at night, well, let it be on Sunday. Well, at least on the third day. The situation is simply unusual. There have already been such searches that it is impossible to come up with, even think of something. All guesses are already at the level of fantasy. From the experience of books, movies and life. It's hard to come up with something new.

According to Alla Ivanovna, of course, the mother is most worried about her son.

Valentina herself does not particularly want to talk to reporters.

“And what can I say if there is no information,” she explains in a quiet, exhausted voice. - I'm calling, but there is no information ...

10-year-old Maxim Markhaliuk disappeared last Saturday. From the moment he left for the forest, it was already the eighth day. Throughout the week, volunteers, rescuers, police officers and military personnel combed Belovezhskaya Pushcha, near which the Novy Dvor agricultural town is located. Volunteers, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the police unanimously say: not a single old-timer remembers such a large-scale search. However, there is still no news yet.

Eight am. Not far from the mechanical yard of the local SPK there are tents of the military and rescuers. There is smoke from the field kitchen. There are also two large helicopters and one drone of the Academy of Sciences, which was supposed to fly out in search of Maxim yesterday. Also, as reported in the Department of Internal Affairs, at night they had to look for the boy with a thermal imager.

The results of these searches are not yet known. At 10:00 a.m. the staff meeting began. By 11 o'clock the head of the headquarters, the deputy chief of the Internal Affairs Directorate, Alexander Shastaylo, will announce the plan of action and the details of the operation that took place last night.

- Today, 40 people from the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations (Grodno), 34 from Volkovysk ROChS, 34 from Svisloch and 21 from the detachment special purpose, - Natalya Zhivolevskaya, the press secretary of the Grodno Ministry of Emergency Situations, told Onliner.by. - I want to emphasize that all of them take part in the search in their free time. And they volunteered to participate in the search of their own free will.

Another camp, already volunteers, spread out at the stadium of the local school. There are dozens of cars and hundreds of people. In the center is the headquarters of the Angel and CentroSpas rescue teams.

There are much more people here than yesterday. By nine in the morning, more than a thousand people from all over the country had already arrived. And they keep coming. Many people take their dogs with them.

- We came from Molodechno. There were three cars of five of us. We don’t know each other at all, we just decided: “We need to go.” And wrote off in "VKontakte",- says Svetlana, who participates in the search for the first time. - We left even earlier than at four in the morning in order to be in time by eight. We are all mothers and fathers, we believe that if something happens to our children, God forbid, then people will also come to our aid.

- We are also from Molodechno. We spent the night here and now we are ready to search,- says Maxim, Valery, Olga, Igor and Sergey. The guys periodically help "Angel" in searches and are going to stay until tomorrow if Maxim is not found today.

- Most likely, he was frightened of wild animals and ran away and is now wandering somewhere in the forest, - young people are optimistic. - In any case, we believe in the best.

The guys from the Brest motorcycle club arrived on quad bikes. They say it's much easier to search this way: there are a lot of fallen trees in the forest.

- I was released from work yesterday. Treated with understanding- says strong Sergei. According to him, the passages in the forest are difficult: there are a lot of windbreaks.

- It is easier for a man, guys and 30 kilometers pass, women - 15 kilometers. We walked in a chain, there were a lot of windbreaks, a lot of blockages, while you inspect everything, of course, the girls lagged behind,- says Sergei.

- We hope that the search today will definitely bring results,- adds his friend Victor. - Today there are many more people, we think the search radius will expand.

Yura, Tanya, Oksana, Svetlana also traveled four hours from Minsk to Novy Dvor. They say they couldn't sit at home knowing they needed help.

- I have a brother of the same age at home, we also have a difference of 11 years, like this boy with his older brother. When I think that he could get lost, it gives me goosebumps, Oksana explains.

- We simply could not sit at home, knowing that Maxim was there in forest alone, - say the guys. - A lot of people were driving. Who could not go, they handed over parcels. We were carrying medicines, groceries, stationery. A lot of people transferred money. Trouble leaves no one indifferent.

- On weekdays, we could not escape, we worked, - say the guys from Baranovichi. - And at night, only specially trained people went into the forest, after all, volunteers were not allowed. So as soon as it became clear that we needed help on the weekend, we immediately arrived.

Local residents who have been looking for Maxim for a week now cannot talk about what happened without crying.

- Oh, if only he was found today, I can’t speak, I’m sorry, - a tear-stained woman in a red jacket turns away.

We are all worried about him. We didn’t even see him that day, only one of us saw him, - vying with each other tell the fifth-graders at school.

At the headquarters, Angel's coordinators are discussing how to distribute people. Not without raised tones. Many worry and try to give each other good advice.

Separately, field kitchen volunteers sort food, prepare tea to feed the children.

On the other side, the Red Cross pitched their tents. Here, too, there is water, food and all the information on the missing Maxim.

Department of Internal Affairs: “If the boy is not found in 10 days, we will initiate a criminal case”

After 12:00, we were still able to catch the chief of staff of the search Maxim Markhaliuk - the deputy head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Alexander Shastaylo. He told the details of yesterday's search operation.

- With regard to reconnaissance with thermal imagers, last night experts identified several thermal points. This morning, forces including the republican special forces detachment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations checked these points. They did not give any information about the missing person,- said Alexander Shastaylo.

- At the moment, in the territory where, according to preliminary data, the missing person may be, searches are being carried out by forces law enforcement, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, military, regional authorities, organizations. A sufficient number of volunteers also arrived today.

At the moment, more than two thousand people are taking part in the search for the boy. We divided the volunteers into organized groups in order to use the possibilities of people more effectively. Foresters, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the District Department of Internal Affairs have been added to these groups, and now search and rescue activities are actively taking place.

- Are there any clues and traces?

- We are even returning to those places that were surveyed earlier, now the territory is quite well-traveled, there are many traces,- said the chief of staff. - If the traces are of interest, the information goes to the headquarters. A mobile group leaves for this place and examines in detail the territory where traces were found, and the information is transmitted to the headquarters. At the moment, all the information received has been checked - there is no result. We are working on various versions, but the main working version is the version that the boy got lost in the forest.

- Are there any other options besides the forest?

- A swampy area is being considered. Literally today, information was received about a swampy area where abandoned buildings are located. A mobile group went there, we landed it from a helicopter, and specialists checked this territory.

- Is there some kind of criminal version being worked out? Maybe the boy was stolen or did he run away?

- These versions are worked out by law enforcement officers. In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus, 10 days after the application is submitted to the internal affairs bodies, all information is transferred to the Investigative Committee. And he is already prosecuting.

- Are there any search standards? After how many days does the search stop?

- As such, there is no set standard. The search will continue regardless of the result that is obtained and will be obtained in the future. Maybe not such forces will be involved, but operational-search activities will be carried out. The statute of limitations in such cases is significant.

Ministry of Emergency Situations and volunteers: we are combing the territory within a radius where a person could reach, we are even looking at 100 kilometers

During the day, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has a task for aviation - to work out points. The essence is simple: the drone flies, and the thermal imager fixes "warm objects". After some time, the drone returns to its place again.

And if he fixes the point again, then a special mobile group is already sent there, which searches the area, including hard-to-reach areas such as islands in swamps and so on.

- This work is going on now, - emphasized in the Ministry of Emergency Situations. - We choose the radius based on how many people can walk during this time. Yes, we take 100 kilometers for insurance.

The second task is the coordination of volunteers. More than once or twice in the groups of the search and rescue squad they said that there are a lot of people, but there are not enough coordinators.

Today, at about 10 am, volunteers were divided into small groups of 30-40 people. Together with them sent coordinators - foresters, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. By the way, the latter employs about 140 people, these are rescuers not only from Grodno, but also from the Brest region. The guys lined up in a chain and went to comb the forest.

- Pay attention to any caches, hiding places, holes, - explain curators to volunteers. - If you fall behind or encounter a hard-to-reach place, you pass it to the curator, and he stops the whole chain. Understandably?

- The girl tried to literally crawl into the house and ask questions to her parents,- said the director of Novodvorskaya high school Alla Goncharevich. - Now the parents have decided not to communicate with the press.

Added. Law enforcement officers: “Disinformation has been spread more than once”

- At about 15:00, the volunteers stumbled upon some things. They were handed over to Maxim's parents, but the things turned out to be not his,- representatives of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee told Onliner.by. Neither the volunteers nor the aviation found any more clues.

At 20:00 on September 23, 2017, the boy was not found. Volunteers are currently looking for accommodation in the agro-town, many will spend the night in tents. They can continue searching tomorrow.

At 21:24 on the website of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee there was a final information on the results today. Law enforcement officers summarize: a week of searches did not give a result.

- For today already combed places have been worked out once again. Large forces are sent to check all the pits, which are located next to the village, - reports the press service of the Department of Internal Affairs. - Deputy head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Alexander Shastaylo noted that today law enforcement officers once again went around all the houses in the village, checked attics and wells, and housing and communal services employees also checked sewer manholes in order to exclude the possibility of a child getting there.

- It's nice to see how events like this can bring people together. More than two thousand people came in search of Maxim from neighboring regions, - noted in the ATC. - Volunteers, the Red Cross, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, despite the weekend, came to help. And some who could not come help financially, many supplies of food, water and essential goods have been brought for volunteers. All this is received from not indifferent citizens.

According to law enforcement officers, they work out all possible versions and check any information received by the headquarters.

- Once again, I would like to focus on the problem of dissemination of false information, - warns ATC. - On some resources, they found news where they expressed condolences to their parents, as the boy was found dead in a noose. There was also news that he was seen by employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, flying in a helicopter, and he fled from them.

This information is not true. Each of those people who are there makes every effort to find Maxim. This kind of information can undermine the morale of people who work hard. And it’s scary to imagine how parents and relatives will feel after reading this kind of misinformation.

The search for the missing Maxim Markhaliuk continues.
